European & US stocks are rocketing. Good news for Singapore stocks tomorrow!

May 10 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks rallied, with the Standard & Poor's 500 Index gaining the most intraday since April 2009, after European policy makers unveiled loan package valued at almost $1 trillion to contain a sovereign-debt crisis.

Citigroup Inc., Bank of America Corp. and Morgan Stanley jumped more than 5 percent. Schlumberger Ltd. and Chevron Corp. followed oil prices higher, while Alcoa Inc., the largest U.S. aluminum producer, rallied with metal prices.

The S&P 500 jumped 3.7 percent to 1,151.9 at 9:33 a.m. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 335.25 points, or 3.2 percent, to 10,715.68.

"The European bailout is a good place to start,' said James Dunigan, chief investment officer at PNC Wealth Management in Philadelphia, which oversees $104 billion.

"The ECB didn't have much choice and is doing the right thing. The selloff from last week is overdone."

Q2 stock picks which are tech-based will outperform the market, IMHO. The tech industry recovery is amazing. Just look at Hewlett-Packard\'s earnings recovery announced this morning. Taken frm Bloomberg: In fact, H-P downplayed concerns about the impact of the European financial crisis on the company\'s momentum. \"H-P management indicated that the currency impact would be less than many expect, and that demand in Europe improved throughout the April quarter and shows no sign of leveling off,\" Hapoalim Securities analyst Kevin wrote. He added: \"While this seems to defy common sense, we will take management at their word and bump up our forward estimates based on the strong PC and server trends, as well as expected improved performance in printing.\" H-P Chief Executive Mark Hurd pointed to signs of a rebounding market, saying in Tuesday\'s call with analysts, \"After many customers deferred hardware purchases in 2009, we are seeing strong growth in a number of our businesses.\" The Palo Alto, Calif.-based tech giant reported a fiscal second-quarter profit of $2.2 billion, or 91 cents a share, compared with a profit of $1.7 billion, or 71 cents a share, for the year-earlier period. Revenue rose to $30.8 billion from $27.4 billion in the same quarter the previous year.

Dow is up! Up and away!

"Ultimately the underpinnings of the economy and corporate earnings are sound, said David Katz, chief investment officer at Matrix Asset Advisors Inc. in New York, which manages $1.2 billion.

"The panic and the selloff are mostly done and we're using days like today and yesterday to add to our equity exposure. Six months and nine months from now, you'll be kicking yourself for not having bought more."

Why Tuan Sing, a sleepy stock, suddenly is up 10%? The guru Sebastian Chong has been recommending this stock last year but it went no where, then he reduced his weightage, and the stock slept soundly...now woken up! 22.5 c! and among the top volume stocks now. I confused.
