Timing the market is next to impossible-
Adopting the correct time horizon for specific investment objectives is however essential.
Staying invested in the market for the long term is the only way to achieve long term goals.
The more frequently investors evaluate their returns, the more likely they are to make inappropriate short-term decisions because they always sell the winners to take profit & keep the losses.
Being ‘kia su’ is the greatest weakness. Speculators & gamblers will end up losing to the house. Time is on the side of the casino.
Look up for potential growth story & eventually may hit the right pocket one day and score muti-baggers.

Time in the market and not time the market, is fund manager favourite theme saying, this is very common thing u read the media,, they like you to buy and hold till kingdom come.
But that will prove furtile. Long,, how long???6 yrs,>??? 10yrs,??? 15yrs.?? Can you tell me??
People always say long, but they themselves got no ideas what is long.
You see if you have bought COSCO, at 7.0..now it is only 1.0..how long u think this one will be back to 7.0. i believe there are some miserable invester here hoping that this one will go back to 7. It is hopless.
Do have a cut loss even for long, don't care how long, and don't ave down for what seen to be blues chip. The selling in the mkt sometimes is not becos of sentiment, It is becos BB selling, they know the bad news first, like Gaoxian, if my friend have listen to me and cut he would not have losse his hard earn money.
Always have a stop loss for all long,
I believe if you are still holding in 2013, you will regret, u can mark my post.
you can book mark this, I m very sure.
PIGS really got no means to pay, next yr all debt are due,

Actually, all these thing call stock is about one things. and that is money.
It is true , no money no talk, really.
But i have to be straight forward, and it may hurt some, but i am refering strictly to myself.
So please do not feel offended, to go long is one point, but that got to see hoew old u are.
For a guy like me, 10 yrs is really not meaningful. Unless they tell me that i can tranfer to the other world, or what.
WB vested some 30 , 40, 50 yrs, and he have affinity with the mkt. and the best thing is he live a long live and heathy one too.
I wish and pray for him well, he is a real benefit to the poor.
I am refering to myself, so my apology if that sound bad,
But if u are young, there is some truth in going long. provided the stock you vested really turn out like coca cola, or apple.
I do agree to some point that if u are young, longing is one good way to acc wealth.
not for me, i am too lold.

When we’re young, most of us work for our $. As time goes on we let our $$ (saving/profit) work for us.
That is why many dream of retired early in life by building their nest eggs.

Retirement means let our $$$ works for us after building our $ trees.

Retirement means spending times to do the things which we miss out in our early life; e.g. do charity works, to bless others in our $, spend times with our love ones, catch up with friends, travelling, to fullfil some of our dreams in life, etc, etc, etc.

In our old age if we are already financially stable I find no reasons to chase after the markets ($$$). We should be enjoying the fruits of our money trees ($$$).

All want to be happy, all fear pain and suffering, But to invest for passive income and retirement, you must be lucky to buy low, like in March 09,
It is hard to buy at low, but that does not means we cannot buy near them. The trick is to stagger your buying, dollar averaging for blues only ..OK..not s-chip or other, i said this is a challenge, becos wait someone will come out and said, s-chip also got good ones, why condemn them. Then i got into head wind with them. You do want to be on the safe side since it is your retirement money, right???
If you want to buy, not now, now it for short term long till Q4, do that in 2013, or maybe later. i will see when we are there, maybe i will try to call and suggest over here. We may not know what come may.
If u have bought reit near 09 low like i did for some, not only u got capital gain but 20% div!!!, but i sold all for captial gain. I dont buy stock for div.
But in reality, how many can retire, we are lucky,  But if u cannot retire earlier, that does not means hard life, Life is how u see it. If u do not know how to use time, and travel and enjoy, u are wasting your time, in retirement.
You shd be preparing for the next cycle of life in retirement, not making money, like in the stock mkt, u must be prepare for bear,
we cannot be bull all the time,
Think beyond this body, There is a life after .d....
may u be well, good luck to you
