@76.5 cents, a sizzling performance this year. Lessons learnt -- buy a business with ....
#1 strong free cash flow! Cash is everything and Straco collects cash from its customers who walk into the aquariums or take its cable car.
#2 earnings growth ]! Straco's aquariums keep attracting more and more visitors because of their locations. Not all aquariums do well or grow their earnings -- I have visited a few that are just so-so.
Will Straco do even better in 2015? The aquarium biz will grow, the big story is the Singapore Flyer. Investor expectations are not high -- mine too. My thoughts are that Straco would not have bought it if it weren't going to be a winner.
Straco next lap to power will likely comes from 4th quarter result in late febuary. The reasons are:
*** Straco 9 months profit is already 98% of FY 2013 net profit.
*** Strong RMB during the 4th quarter. During the 3 months of 4th Quarter it was about 4.7 RMB one S$ as compare to 2nd Quarter it was about 4.9 RMB to one S$.
*** Straco will continue to increase its top and bottom lines.
*** Increase dividend pay-out and in the pass few years.
*** Management will likely to unfold its plan for The Singapore Flyer
The above reasons will be the catalyst for Straco share price increase. As regard to The Singapore Flyer, I believe Straco the new owner of The Singapore Flyer will succeed in turning it to profitable venture. The Singapore Flyer is a rare catch for Straco which will raise the company porfile. It would provide further earnings momentum and reduce concentration risk of it's operation in China.

Wah, looks pretty cool! I will visit it the next time I'm in Shanghai. Looking forward to see the coming results for FY14. (Vested)

In 9M2014, on revenue of SGD73 m, Straco earned SGD34 m net profit. Net margin thus = 46%. Free cash flow was SGD32.5 m.
