SingTel was a telecom MONOPOLY in SINGAPORE. Upon its IPO, SingTel share price peaked above S$4.00+. I can still remember on that day lunch time, my office tea lady took half day off to SELL her SingTel shares at its highest price. Whereas all the financial chiefs of the company held on to their SingTel shares until it hit it rock bottom price. Singapore population continued to grow and doubled. The Broadbane and 3G, 3.5G era arrived. SingTel share price went to S$4++ in 2008 at the market Peak. At that time, analyst called BUY for Target Price above S$5. AGAIN, i did not sell and the price dropped. The fact is SingTel was the STI Market Leader too. All the Dreams of SingTel becoming a multi-bagger did NOT come TRUE. Now that there THREE in COMPETITION, the SingTel Share Price is DOOMED. R....I....P.... Based on this SingTel DREAM Business Model, will SINOTEL ever become like COSCO????

It could be premature to write off SINOTEL by comparing it with Singtel, a rather popular defensive “blue chip” that many institutions & small investors loved. The big difference between Singtel and Sinotel is that the latter is a GROWTH stock while the former is NOT. Sinotel’s nett profits grew from RMB 85 million (FY 07) to RMB 107 million (FY 08) and RMB 112 million for 9 months of FY 09. Some analysts expect its 4Q 09 profits to be weak but its full year earnings would still far exceed that of the previous year. A very negative point for Singtel is that it has 15.9 billion shares and its nett profits (rather unexciting) over the last few years were – FY 3/06 – S$4,163 million FY 3/07 – S$3,778 million FY 3/08 – S$3,960 million FY 3/09 – S$3,448 million 1H 9/09 – S$1,901 million There have been a lot of good and bad business news affecting Singtel, and anytime a big shareholder decided to divest a few hundred million of Singtel shares in the market, other shareholders can kiss goodbye to the potential capital gain that they have been dreaming of getting from this stock.

Sinotel limited upside... good as gameover for those who bought it BECAUSE of American DRs... agree with the comparison with SingTel.. Too much hype... you can\'t compare SinoTel with SingTel because a better comparison would be the China Telcos, which have more asset and more pricing control... all the newsflow from SinoTel makes for good readings thats all
