IT BEGAN AS a small family-run shop repairing marine engines 61 years ago.
The recent relocation of XMH Holdings (from its Sg Kadut office) to its new 7-storey HQ in Tuas signifies the tremendous growth it has achieved.

NextInsight file photo.The building, which cost $56.6 million to construct on land which cost $8.1 million to acquire, houses XMH's original business of being a diesel engine, propulsion and power generating solutions provider.
Under the same roof is also 80% subsidiary Z-Power Automation, which was acquired in 2015. (see photo captions below).
100%-owned Mech-Power, acquired in 2013, has yet to relocate there but will do so this month.
XMH shareholders and board of directors and other guests toured the new HQ on Friday after an EGM seeking shareholders' approval for a 4-to-1 consolidation of shares.

Level 1:
Gensets are assembled for use on a wide range of vessels. The main brand used by XMH is Mitsubishi. The key market is Indonesia followed by Vietnam.
Testing of engine propulsion system for vessels: This is a new capability of XMH which previously outsourced it to a third party.
Level 2:
XMH acquired a 80% stake in Z-Power Automation in March 2015 for S$12.8 million cash. ZPA supplies marine switchboards, remote control distribution systems, motor control centers, shipboard cable installation and other integrated marine automation products.

Level 3:
Warehouse for storing parts and engines.
The Hänel Lean-Lift® is a high-tech system operating in a floor-to-ceiling storage space. It brings the requested item (such as spare parts) automatically to the access area in seconds. "Goods to man" is the operating mode instead of "man to goods".
