IN THE run-up to Chinese New Year, hampers laden with health and goodness products are growing in popularity.
Eu Yan Sang expects to sell 20% more hampers than the 4,000 it did in Singapore last year.
In Malaysia, it is confident of maintaining its buoyant sales of more than 25,000 hampers last year.
Its hampers come with premium products such as Wisconsin Amercian ginseng, essence of chicken, and bottled birds’ nest.
In Singapore, prices this year range from S$168 to S$999, inclusive of GST. There are 6 types of hampers, and they can be ordered at Eu Yan Sang retail outlets and authorized dealers. Delivery is free.
In Malaysia, prices range from RM99 to RM3699. There are 14 different types of hampers. Of course, hamper prices are at a discount to the aggregate retail price of the individual items.
In its first quarter ended Sept 30 ‘07, Eu Yan Sang’s revenue grew 34% to S$53.9 million and net profit grew 27% to S$3.2 million. Sales at all its core business segments grew, with the retail segment leading with a 43% jump to S$40.0 million.
Higher sales were reported at existing outlets. There were contributions from 6 new outlets opened in 1Q08.
