Wah you guys are hotting up. Many points have an element of logic and truth. But the world is complicated, hor. To start with, the Big Picture -- stock market is not the same as property market.

The government will keep a close watch on property prices, intro all sorts of rules to ensure prices don't soar ( they still do...hahaha) but can you imagine what a cowboy town it would be if there weren't the 6 rounds of cooling measures?

But stock market has No One looking to prevent prices from falling and falling (or rising and rising). It's us investors having to learn our lessons and it's us who can reap gains from multibaggers.

Please do not blame the China management for s-chip failure. Behind every failure is a group of fellow countrymen who have benefited. During the heydays in 2005-2008, many had become multi-millionaires, while the poor retail investors are still licking their wounds today.

Well said. When the CLOB was closed down years ago, many lost their pants, esp those on margin trading. We couldn't sell our shares for more than a yr, and during this time , few of my warrants expired.  SGX never compensated us for the loss.  I learnt from this and all those who lost money on S-Chips should also learn and move on.  Get out of S-chips as there are many quality stocks in the SGX  which can recoup your losses over time.

Hey don't think it's the China men alone who have a tendency to privatise their companies on the cheap. U look at angmo case recently -- k1 Ventures.

offer was just 13.5 cents, but luckily DMG stepped in and told the world the value of the company is around 30 cents. !!!

k1 Ventures offer price way below analyst valuation

In the end, Steve Green never got his bargain deal.
