A second insurer has been taken to task by the Ministry of Health (MOH) over reduced payouts to policyholders on dialysis.

Two months ago, MOH asked insurer AIA not to reduce payouts to such policyholders, whose benefits shrank when they were moved to a different health plan. About 20 end-stage kidney failure patients on dialysis were affected.

Now, it has told Aviva not to short-change similar patients.

The moves follow queries by The Straits Times to MOH about the reduced payouts.

China seizes S$18 billion from former leader

fireworks at Pteris Global. Set off by Winston Tan Tien Hin, a major shareholder

By Melissa Tan (Straits Times)

A major shareholder and director of loss-making Pteris Global is trying to oust the chairman and other directors from the board, ahead of a reverse takeover (RTO) of the former market darling.

Mr Winston Tan, who holds slightly more than 10 per cent of the company, has called for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to vote on the removal of the other directors, Pteris said in a Singapore Exchange filing on Tuesday.

He said in a statement that Pteris, an airport logistics services provider, had been engaged in "non-profitable" projects and that its management and board "have failed to build value for its shareholders".

He added that the terms of a proposed RTO of Pteris "do not seem to serve the shareholders' interest"

1. Elderly cyclist (at 6th second in video) crosses the road.
2. Car driver hits him.
3. Driver drives away.
4. Incredibly, a motorcyclist (seen at 38th second) chases after driver --- and (at 4 min 22 seconds) gets him to return to the scene.... to settle the matter!

5. Meantime, mother and daughter in car behind get out to help -- at some risk to themselves from vehicles roaring by.

6. Salute to the mother/daughter and the motorcyclist!
Shame on the hit-&-run driver!
