Singapore Airlines, Southeast Asia’s biggest carrier, boosted first-quarter profit 56%, helped by gains from the sale of its stake in Virgin Atlantic Airways to Delta Air Lines Inc.
Net income rose to $121.8 millionin the three months ended June, from $78 million a year earlier, Singapore Air said in a statement today. Operating profit rose 14% to $82 million while revenue increased 1.7% to $3.84 billion.
