NextInsight file photo.GEO ENERGY RESOURCES announced that its executive chairman, Mr Charles Antonny Melati, has won the “Indonesian Entrepreneur and Education Award 2015” and “The Indonesian Business Award 2015”. Both awards recognise his achievements while serving as executive chairman of Geo Energy, which primarily operates as a coal producer and mine contractor. The Group owns mining concessions in East and South Kalimantan. In addition, the Group (on whose board famed billionaire Jim Rogers sits as a non-executive director) also operates as a mine contractor providing specific mine contracting services to third party mine owners. The winners of the "Indonesian Entrepreneur and Education Award 2015" are selected by a panel comprising the Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia, government agencies, NGOs and the private sector. This award recognises individuals and corporations who positively contribute to Indonesia in the areas of developing the country’s infrastructure, improving the welfare of the society and enhancing the creativity of the nation etc. “The Indonesian Business Award 2015” awards the most outstanding company in the business sector of Indonesia. Mr Melati said, “Currently, Indonesia faces many issues in poverty, social welfare and education. I hope both awards can inspire others to take note of the current conditions in the country and to step forward. In order for Indonesia to advance as a nation, that requires commitment, determination and hard work from everyone. "As corporations, we can all work together for the advancement of the nation and also to provide meaningful employment for our work force. "Using up-to-date coal mining equipment and facility has tremendously upgraded the knowledge and skill set of our workforce. By taking initiatives to build up our logistics and facilities, we have also improved the infrastructure and accessibility in the area we operate. In terms of creativity, our constant innovation in the coal mining process has enabled us to remain one of the leaders in our industry." |
