posting by \'ryansis\' at www.sharejunction.com : I was doing some calculation on this co\'s subsidiary wch mfg the solar panel. Last year someone took a 10% stake in the subs for us$7mn. That values the subs us$70mn . The mkt cap of Anwell is only $100mn. Is the co undervalued?Looking at the biz, the co can sell the panels and the machine that produces the panel. Question: What the price of such thin film solar panel these days? More importantly, whats the price of the machine wch produces such panels? Appreciate your inputs.

Posting by Sebastian Chong at www.shareowl.com on Sept 14: Anwell dropped to 46.5 cts this morning, lingered around there for a while and then strongly rebounded to 53 cts. Now holding at 52.5 cts. Volume only 1.3 m shares so far. I should have bought back at 47 cts but did not. Was waiting for 45 cts or lower. Most likely there will be heavy profit taking once the share price hits 55 cts. I am just guessing of course. But if a big fund decides to move in or better still if a strong solar player takes a stake in Anwell, then the equation will be lifted. Any way, no regrets. By itself, Anwell is still not a low risk company. Indeed I think Sinotel looks lower risk than Anwell. Sinotel is already highly profitable but Anwell is still loss making or breaking even for recent quarters although its NTA is over 70 cents. Anwell, having developed its own prototype of a thin film solar panel, will try to commercialise it on a profitable scale by end of 2010. The potential of course is great but the initial challenges have to be overcome. For penny stocks, I still think Lum Chang and Yongnam are the best with lots of MRT stations and lines and the North South Expressway etc on the way from the Spore govt. GuocoLeisure is the safest being the hotel industry in the UK and a great track record and dirt cheap valuation wise.

omg, this is serious! this is a breakthrough for Anwell! Anwell signs MOU with US-partner to supply solar panels for one of the world’s largest thin film solar farm projects 􀂝 Provide up to 1.25GW of solar panels towards a large utility-scale solar farm project 􀂝 Starting 2011, supply an estimated 2MW of capacity per week 􀂝 Endorsement of Anwell’s in-house developed technologies and growing reputation in the solar industry 􀂝 On track to begin mass production of solar panels in 1Q2010. info.sgx.com/webcoranncatth.nsf/VwAttach...rgen.pdf?openelement

on the move now.... 58.5 cents. i think this is for the long term investors. cos the solar business will only make good money later in 2010. i like the article by Robert Stone, the Anwell investor - www.nextinsight.net/content/view/1635/60/

after reading today\'s article on nextinsight that Sebastian has sold Anwell at a good profit, i think the explanation is that he is concerned about the uncertainty that lies ahead. he is not sure about the solar business volume that Anwell can secure. it\'s early days, in other words. on the other hand, i read about people like Robert Stone and i know some friends - they are like buying into the promise of a booming industry. they figure that it\'s good to get in early, sit on the stock and wait for the multi-bagger returns. no right or wrong approach. investing is your risk-vs-reward calculation. and yr time horizon. personally, i think it\'s ok to wait for another few months before buying Anwell. :)

I took some time off to study the thin film solar industry over the past 2 weeks. And my conclusion is that thin film is an immature technology. Applied Materials have produced a first generation of solar equipment who can produce thin film solar panel in mass volume. But bear in mind, this is a first generation series. The efficiency ratio of thin film now is only 5-8%. Way below polysilicon industry average of 18%. The length of usage is undetermined since this is a new technology The only advantage that thin film has over the traditional polysilicon method is the upfront investments. Other advantages cited included less pollution and non over-supply issue. This seems to me like the Internet Bubble back in 2000. You really don\'t know who will survive the burst. Good luck.
