WITH THE global ship population having expanded massively in recent years, companies that service and maintain ships are enjoying a surge in business.

Mencast Holdings, listed in Singapore in 2008, is one of them. It specializes in reconditioning sterngear equipment, restoring and repairing worn out or damaged sterngear equipment to make it sea-worthy.

It also manufactures sterngear.

Mencast registered a 20% growth in earnings for 1H 2010 to $4.8 million, and has just 3% net gearing.
