BH GLOBAL won the Gold Award at the Singapore Corporate Awards (SCA) on Monday night for its exemplary role in investor relations among companies with less than S$300 million in market cap.

”We are able to maintain open and honest communication with the investment community thanks to Financial PR, our partner in investor relations,” said its CEO, Mr Vincent Lim.

BH Global is a leading one-stop solutions provider of marine electrical equipment.

By winning the gold award, It bettered its previous year's performance when it won the Silver Award in the same category.

BH Global has demonstrated its track record in consistency by winning the SCA Best Investor Relations Award for the fourth year - which is to say, every year since its listing on the Singapore Exchange.

SCA is an annual event honoring Singapore Exchange-listed companies and individuals who exemplify the best governance and corporate disclosure standards.

The gala dinner was graced by the presence of Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, former deputy Prime Minister Tony Tan, SGX non-executive chairman JY Pillay and SGX CEO Magnus Bocker.

BH Global has won another accolade recently. In Apr 2010, it was ranked no.30 on the bi-annual assessment of its Governance and Transparency Index (GTI) out of the 736 companies listed on SGX.

Even though it is relatively small (with a market cap of S$128 million), BH Global has distinguished itself as being among the top 5 percentile in corporate governance and transparency.

In the past one year, its management has met more than 50 analysts, fund managers and sophisticated investors in about 30 meetings. It is also under research coverage by investment analysts from NRA Capital, Westcomb and DBS Vickers.

Speedy financial reporting

95% of companies assessed release their full-year results within 31-60 days, according to associate professor Mak Yuen Teen from NUS Business School, which assesses each company’s GTI in collaboration with the Business Times.

Only 3% released full year results within 30 days, something BH Global has done since listing in 2005.

The deadline for companies with their financial year-end in Dec is end-Feb, but Mr Lim says the company aims to release results by the third week of Jan.  This year, it released its FY09 results on the 15 Jan.

”With prudent planning, we can turnaround our financial reporting in a shorter time.  Avoiding the peak reporting season makes things easier for auditors and analysts,” explained Mr Lim.

“We are very pleased to see our client stand out among the crowd to win such a prestigious award,” said Ms Kathy Zhang, the managing director of Financial PR.

“The win stimulates professional pride in our team of award winning investor relations consultants by indirectly recognizing their hard work,” she added.

Financial PR has been BH Global’s external investor relations consultant since its IPO in 2005, and the IR company has also won the Singapore Prestige Brand Award for the past 3 years.
