DARE TO CHALLENGE: The SIAS Story launched by Minister for Finance, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam (left) and Mr David Gerald.

DARE TO CHALLENGE: The SIAS Story, a book commemorating the Securities Investors Association of Singapore's (SIAS) 10th anniversary, was ceremoniously launched at its Investors' Choice Awards 2009 gala dinner last night.

The 148-page book was written by NextInsight's co-founder, Leong Chan Teik, a former Straits Times journalist, and is very much an account of how SIAS' president and CEO, Mr Gerald David, and his team fought for the rights of minority shareholders.

In particular, SIAS played a critical role in enabling investors to get back their CLOB shares totalling billions of dollars after the shares were frozen by Malaysia during the Asian financial crisis.

Chan Teik was away in Europe to accompany his wife on her working trip and for a holiday when the book was launched. All dinner guests received a personal copy of the book which included 8 exciting cases of stock market sagas that happened on the local bourse.
