TREK 2000: What a dog sees....

We have written about a push by Trek 2000 to extend the applications of its wi-fi memory modules to diverse gadgets beyond high-end cameras.(see links below)

For the uninitiated, Trek has invented the Flucard (which has the SD card form factor) embedded with wi-fi capability.

This has enabled Trek to create the Ai-Ball, a portable remote camera which transmits images real-time.

Photo by The Edge Singapore. In its current weekly edition, The Edge Singapore has an article about it being given a demonstration at Trek's office in Loyang of an application of the Ai-Ball ("the world's smallest portable wi-fi remote camera"), which was embedded into a prototype toy dog's chest.

With the flick of a switch on its body, the dog was activated and it moved about, as well as barked.

When the visitors keyed in a web address given by Trek on their smartphones' browsers, they could see in an instant (on their browsers) what the dog was "seeing" as it moved around the room. Wow!

Trek 2000 is in talks with an unnamed toy manufacturer on a deal.

If successful, it would rapidly expand Trek's achievements in the toy sector.

Last year and this year, Trek won US$25 million and US$50 million contracts, respectively, to supply wi-fi modules to Rely/Mattel, a US toy maker.
