'S-chip sage' Fu Yong is back after a hiatus
DR FU YONG is a Chinese fund manager often referred to as the 'S-chip sage' for his history of favouring Singapore-listed Chinese firms.
When he won the 2007 Fund Manager of the Year award in his category, he had a high water mark of seven S-chips among his fund's top 10 holdings in the second half of that year.
Dr Fu has now taken on a new position with a Shanghai-based 8.6 bln yuan fund of Changxin Asset Management. Read more...

China Vanke was a big winner today
CHINA'S BENCHMARK Shanghai Composite Index closed up 0.80% today at 2,490.72, nearly ending above the key 2,500 barrier, thanks to reports of credit loosening measures in the real estate sector.
Meanwhile, the Hang Seng Index which tracks Hong Kong's bourse finished up 0.44% at 20,467.43, with developers leading the way there as well. Read more...

HENRY NGO, the executive chairman of Bonvests Holdings, bought 1.225 million shares of Bonvests in the open market last week. Bonvests owns the Sheraton Towers in Singapore.
Another interesting buy was Gazelle Capital boosting its stake in InnoTek by 8 million shares through a married deal.

OCBC Investment Research, after a visit to OCEANUS’ farms in China, issued a ‘hold’ rating on the stock and a 32-c target price.
A SURVEY of nearly 100 fund managers by local media found that next month may present the most opportune time to build a starting position in stocks listed on ChiNext, China’s equivalent of the Nasdaq.
The eight month-old board, also referred to as the Shenzhen GEM (Growth Enterprise Market) Board, has followed the Shanghai Composite down for much of this year.

CHINA’S SHANGHAI Composite Index closed down another 0.8% to finish Monday at 2,363.95. Only a resurgence in property and steel stocks kept the benchmark from letting off more steam, with China A-shares having fallen 28% this year, the world’s second worst-performing market save bankrupt Greece’s.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index tracked its mainland counterpart, losing 0.33% to close at 19,839.34 today. Read more...
